Description
The LK furniture collection is handmade with 100% up-cycled flip-flops and rigid polyurethane foam from the shipping industry. Discarded flip-flops are sorted from washed-up marine debris along the beaches, cleaned, thoroughly disinfected and hand carved by fairly paid master artisans in Kenya.
The entire collection comprises armchairs, sofas, chaises longues, daybeds, poufs, to mention. Each piece has been carefully sculpted and glued to ensure durability. Any color variations and irregularities are inherent to [used] flip-flops and a result of artisanal finishing. Protection from direct light, heat and rain is advised. Under our customization service, we can design and produce individual options tailor-made for specific needs, which offers a multitude of possibilities for designers, architects and anyone with a personal vision.
LK continues KAYIWA’s philosophy of using waste as raw material, plus collaborating with African artists and artisans to fuse art, craft and design.
